Phoenix Fire
Hand made in Portland. Limited run.
Process
Made by hand in Portland from locally sourced Pendleton wool through a process called wet felting. Each hat follows its own pattern, guided by the feel of the fabric and the intuition of the maker. Singular objects. No copies. Every sauna hat is a one-of-one.
Function
Sauna hats serve a simple purpose: to keep your head cool while your body warms. Wool insulates from the extreme heat, helping you stay longer, breathe deeper, and emerge slower. What began as a traditional bathhouse essential now stands as both functional gear and wearable art meant for ritual, rest, and reflection.
Material
Authentic Pendleton wool chosen for its heritage, durability, and natural thermal regulation. Each textile carries subtle shifts in tone and weave, making each hat distinctly its own.
Styles
Available in limited variations: Flames, Speckled, Melt, and Flight Path. Each style carries its own rhythm. Some bold, some quiet. All made with intention. All Guss!
Origin
Handmade in Portland, Oregon by Patricia Santiago through the slow craft of wet felting with upcycled Pendleton wool. Rooted in Nordic sauna traditions, where wool hats have been worn for centuries to protect the head from heat and help the body stay longer in the steam. In Finland and across the north, the sauna hat is both practical and symbolic, a small ritual of care, balance, and endurance. Each piece carries that lineage forward — local wool, local hands, shaped by water, time, and touch.
